Ride Setting

I have installed your Strong Arms with Shockwaves , Airbar rear suspension , & Airpod in my 88 S10 . I have programed the presets as per operation manual . Setting # 1 works fine , all the way down . Setting # 2 , dose'nt reach ride height . It comes up 1 " short on all corners . Setting # 3 , all the way up . Reachs full height in the rear , but not in front . When programming the resets as for setting # 2 . I set the truck at the level I want it to drive at . I push button # 2 on the control panel for 6 seconds . It flashs after 3 seconds . When I remove my finger after 6 seconds it stops flashing , but the light stays on . I wait about 5 seconds then push button 1 2 or 3 for 3 seconds to activate the presets and that light stays on . Can you help me get it to the correct height every time please . Thanks Mike

Since you have flashing lights I'm guessing you have an e2 control system.

Programming presets:
-manually set to the desired ride height
-press and hold the desired preset for OVER 5 seconds (the led under the button will begin to flash after 5 seconds)
-release the button

Selecting presets:
-press and hold the desired preset for longer than 0.5 seconds (but not more than 3 seconds)
-the desired preset led will illuminate and the vehicle will travel to preset

***If you hold the preset button longer than 5 seconds at any time it will re-learn the preset. The "trigger" is half a second, just long enough to make a conscious button push.***

Attaining preset heights:
Do you have level sensors?
If YES, then preset height will be within 1/8" of what you set.

If NO, then you have an AIR PRESSURE ONLY system. As the computer is trying to reach the preset pressure within +/-7psi you MUST look only at pressure, not actual vehicle height.

-Set your preset #2 to what you want for height (ALWAYS inflate past the desired height, then deflate down to it. This eliminates any suspension bind which causes a "false load" on the air spring causing the pressure to read high.)
-write down your preset pressures
-lower the vehicle (either by using preset #1 or manually)
-press preset #2 button for 0.5 seconds to trigger preset
-when vehicle stops moving write down the pressures
-How close did it get to the preset pressures? Typically it's within 2 or 3 psi, but it can be off as much as 7psi (as dictated by the software in the computer).

Reaching Preset #3:
Do you have a 3 gallon or 5 gallon AirPod?

Our systems are not designed to go from full deflate to full inflate (anything over 125psi in all bags) in one shot. If we were to try this you'd have to run more tanks and more pressure.

My bet is that when you go from full deflate to full inflate the rear goes up in a hurry, the front starts to move then stops. You'll then hear the valves "click". This is the valve opening and closing, but since the tank does not have enough pressure left over it cannot push the air into the air spring. This is called "normalization" (when the air spring pressure and the tank pressure are the same).

Thanks Britt , I do have the e2 system , I do not have height sensors , and it has a 5 gallon tank . I followed your instructions . I set it at ride height, pressed #2 and wrote down the pressures . Then I lowered it down ( #1 ) . Pressed #2 the truck raised then stopped and I wrote down the pressures . The pressure differences were 13lbs front driver side , 26lbs front pass. side , 22lbs rear driver side , and same pressure rear pass. side . Pressures were lower . Thanks Mike

At any time do the button backlight LED's start flashing?

If so do this:
1-press and hold ART logo button and Preset #2 button simultaneously
-tank pressure will be displayed
2-press and hold preset #1 and preset #3 buttons simultaneously
-sub programming menu will be displayed
3-Make sure both LR and RR's are set to OF (off)

How long does it take to get to preset #2?
The computer has a maximum of 26 seconds before it stops trying to get to preset height.

If you need to make the system inflate faster do this:
1-press and hold ART logo button and Preset #2 button simultaneously
-tank pressure will be displayed
2-press and hold preset #1 and preset #3 buttons simultaneously
-sub programming menu will be displayed
3-Set the LF to 3, 4, or 5
-this controls how long the valve is open the very first pulse.
3=0.5 seconds
4=0.75 seconds
5=1.0 seconds
-this will allow the truck to raise a bunch, then make small adjustments to get to proper height.

When I press ART logo & #2 , I get tank pressure 146lbs . When I press #1 & #3 simultaneously nothing is displayed except for the bag pressures and button #3 stays lit .

Programming Presets:
Any time you hold any preset button for longer than 5 seconds you are re-learning the preset.

Selecting Presets:
Any time you hold any preset button longer than 0.5 seconds, but less than 5 seconds you are selecting a preset.

Just think of it like programming and selecting the preset stations on your radio. You press and hold to program, you press and release to select the station.

Sub Programming Menu:
There is a time limit for getting into the Sub Programming Menu. After you press and hold the ART button and Preset #2 (and tank is displayed) you have 10 seconds to press and hold #1 and #3. If you do not do it in 10 seconds you cannot access the Sub Programming Menu. The tank pressure will remain displayed on the screen.

If you do it within 10 seconds and you get to the Sub Programming Menu you have 10 seconds after any button is pressed and released before it reverts back to the main screen. So if you get into the SPM and you change on value (press and release one button) the clock starts ticking. If you do nothing it will go to the main screen. If you press another button within the 10 second time limit the clock resets.
So if you want to remain in the SPM for a long duration of time you simply keep pressing buttons and you will remain on that page.

Your main problem is you have likely never had the presets learned correctly from the start. Once you have the presets where you want them you can then change speed settings and other things in the SPM to make the system work better (or worse if you change it in the wrong direction). Just takes some testing and playing with the system to get it dialed in.
