After a 15 year absence the Street Machine Nationals have returned to DuQuoin Illinois. The DuQuoin Nationals have a special spot in the heart of most of the biggest names in the hotrodding world. Our own Bret Voekel was deemed “Mr.Nationals” by Toby Brooks in “SENSORY OVERLOAD” a book about the Street Machine Nationals. When we asked Bret his thought about how the return to DuQuoin went he had the following to say.
“Duquoin is still everything it ever was…hot, crowded, and full of the coolest cars in the country! For me personally, that show was the foundation for everything that came afterwards. Hell, I quit at least two jobs to attend that show in the early 80’s. This year…I was rewarded with a Pro Street Legend Award and a whole chapter in Toby Brooks new book about the event, Sensory Overload. What a weekend..seeing cars and friends from 25 years ago is good for the soul. Can’t wait till next year!”
