Hot Rod Power Tour 2016 Begins!

Today, the Hot Rod Power Tour began in scenic Gonzales, LA (just outside Baton Rouge), and it was hot Hot HOT! With temps in the 90’s and humidity so high you nearly had to swim around the venue, the two periods of heavy rain that hit the area today were a little more welcome than rain generally is at a car show…at least while they lasted!

Today’s Tour Kickoff at Lamar Dixon Expo Center also held an autocross sponsored by Mothers Polish. The course was well-designed with elements that were beginner-friendly while still retaining technicality and competitiveness. Bret and Chris also got to make some laps in the Chevelle and the Camaro; at the time, Chris put in the 3rd fastest time of the day in just his second lap!

The midway was booming with spectators, despite the rain; vendors packed up and moved to the next stop in Baytown, TX this evening to prepare for the arrival of the Tour participants tomorrow. If you’re coming out to see the show, stop by the RideTech booth for a chance to win some cool prizes! We’ve got some really great posters of the silver ’69 Mustang, and you can take a short survey for the chance to win a free T-shirt! We choose shirt winners every hour, and at the end of the week, one lucky participant will be randomly drawn to win a complete StreetGRIP system!

Tomorrow’s stop in Baytown, TX will feature drag racing and several other interesting events; subscribe to our livestream HERE to catch our live broadcasts (service permitting). We will also have galleries from the show and interesting details featured on our Facebook page; if you can’t come out and join us, you can still follow along and be here in spirit!

    Hello from sunny AZ

I’m the builder, owner and driver of the little blue Studebaker pickup that you liked in your films.

Thanks for the highlighted coverage (IMG_5048 and IMG_5050) and hope to do Power Tour again as soon as possible. This was my first one, but this event has been on my bucket list for many years. I always read about it and have now done it. Total drive was 4104 miles from door to door.

Thanks for your active participation and hope to be able to use your products on my next build.
Tha Stude has a 79 Chevy Nova front clip, Stude 274 cid V8 engine and an adapted 700R4 trans. Quick steering and sway bars front and rear make it FUN to drive.

    See you next year.
