By now you’ve likely heard about our Ridetech F/X-Body MOMENTUM Subframe series. But now you’ve got the opportunity to watch the entire install process unfold at Ridetech HQ. In this video we take you through all the steps of getting your old subframe removed, carry over of components from the old subframe to the new subframe, and fitting the new subframe in its new home.
The donor car in this instance is Ridetech engineering tech employee Josh Petry’s 1967 Camaro. It’s powered by a pretty stout conventional small block Chevy with Holley’s Terminator X standalone taking care of the air and fuel mixtures.
While Josh is retaining the powerplant, one thing he is excited to get rid of is all the old tech in the factory subframe. He’ll now be able to enjoy full lock to lock turning without a reduced turning radius due to the narrower frame rail design of the Ridetech subframe. He’ll also enjoy a more direct and modern steering feel thanks to the upgrade to rack and pinion steering (rack sold separately).
We also take the time to show you what’s involved in changing out to rack and pinion steering from a connection standpoint to save you time and effort.
While this subframe can be had in early pin spindle configuration, Josh’s Camaro already has our late model AFX hub style spindle installed which accepts brake packages for C5 and C6 Corvettes.
For more information on Ridetech’s performance subframe, check out our product release announcement on our blog that covers all the features and benefits and a product overview video.
You can also visit the subframe product page to go ahead and add one to the cart and get your Camaro or Nova’s front end dialed in for better performance and handling.
And while you’re at it, let us know in the comments what you think about this product. What platform should we expand our performance subframe offering to include? We want to hear your feedback!
