A couple weeks back we loaded up and headed over to the mountains of eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina to enjoy the weekend at a new (to us) event called Miatas at the Gap. In it’s 29th year and held at the gorgeous Fontana Village & Resort, the event plays host to approximately 1,500 Miatas from various generations and over 2,200 attendees.
The weekend involves a popular vendor midway, with a number of well-known businesses onsite that support the Miata community including Flyin’ Miata, Moss Miata, and more. The primary draw however, was getting out on the Tail of the Dragon and other curvy, scenic roads in the area with small groups of other Miata owners and enjoying spirited drives over the weekend.
The event made for an ideal backdrop to announce the expansion of our HQ Series Coil-overs to include the NC Miata (2006-2015). These 24-position rebound adjustable coil-overs feature Fox Factory shock technology, a double digressive piston that provides the appropriate valving for track days, and a spring rate that makes it sporty yet comfortable on the street. All in all, they are one of the best options on the market when it comes to a suspension upgrade that handles both street and track duties in a single package.
Overall the weekend was great experience for the Ridetech team. Staff and attendees were very welcoming and fun to be around and it’s safe to say we’re already looking forward to the 30th anniversary event in 2026. If you’re thinking about making it out for the first time, all we can tell you is to make your plans as far out as possible, as the surrounding area lodging options fill up quickly and you can find yourself staying up to an hour away from the venue if you’re not quick on reservations.
We hope you enjoy the event overview video we put together. If that isn’t enough to get you nostalgic for MATG, there’s an image gallery from the event below. Have a look through! If you attended, there’s a good chance you may find an image of yourself, your car, or a friends below.
We’ll catch you on the next one #ridetechnation.
