Randy Pobst’s Randit Ridetech Revival | Episode 2

On this episode, the Randit enters the shop and goes under the knife. While we review the products that are about to find their way on to the Randit, the rest of the team begins disassembly. Meanwhile, Randy and Marketing Manager Blane Burnett review each of the components that will find their way onto the Randit, or your very own second-generation GM F-Body.

While our late model AFX hub spindle is a good solution for the hard use that the Randit is destined for, in this install we went with pin spindles as Randy already had upgraded to Baer brakes that he wanted to retain. And while you can run this same suspension in either air or coil-over configurations, coil-overs were selected for simplicity and Randy’s preference.

In fact, since we are installing these on a capable race car driver’s vehicle, it made sense to turn the dial up to 11 and install some of our triple adjustable TQ coil-overs! These feature additional adjustability allowing for better control of the shock compared to our single adjustable HQ coil-overs.

90% of folks would be very happy with the HQ product considering their use case, but we had to go full send on this project. The TQ coil-overs feature a piggyback reservoir that allows more shock fluid capacity and boast both high and low speed compression (bump) adjustment and low speed rebound (extension) dials. Each of those features 24 positions of adjustment which allow fine-tuning of each corner depending on the surface that needs to be conquered.

On top of that, knowing what Randy would be using the car for, we also installed a double digressive valve package in the coil-overs to help them perform their best on the circuit.

The awesome thing about the kits we sell is that they are essentially bolt in. The only caveat is that you need to weld on 4-link tabs so that you can locate your upper and lower control arms in place in the rear of the car. Beyond that, our complete instruction manual takes you through each step and will have the DIY installer setting their car back down on the ground and ready for an alignment in the better part of a weekend.

Speaking of alignments, that’s what we’re going to be focusing on in our third episode. While the team is dialing in Randy’s preferred alignment, Blane and Randy will be discuss what each of the settings in a typical automotive alignment involve and what settings are desired depending on street or track use.

Just in case you discovered this series half-way through, we’ve included links to the first two episodes below.

We’ll catch you on the next one!

A word on customer support. I installed the complete kit on my C2 vette about 5 years ago. When a bushing failed recently Ridetech not only supplied an upgrade, but did the install and shipping, all at no cost to me. [ and quickly too ].
No fussing about warranty dates, etc., they just made it right. Ridetech is the benchmark for great customer support.
