Ridetech awarded the third Renegade Award to Tommy Wisdom and his 1968 Dodge Dart at the Run to the Coast event that took place April 6-8, 2012.
The Award
Ridetech Renegade award recipiants will not necessarily have the fastest lap time, have the best looking car, or be the winner of the event [although they could be]. Rather it goes to someone who is mostly “unsponsored”, and who has obviously put considerable time and effort into educating themselves about how to improve the performance of their car and executing the changes necessary to achieve that. Congratulations to those who continue to play with cars just for the love of it.
About Tommy and his car:
Tommy Wisdom is the owner of “Sally” the 1968 Dodge Dart being modified by DTM Racing in Yuma, AZ. Tommy is currently a helicopter pilot with the United States Marine Corps and recently returned from a six month deployment to Afghanistan. About two years ago he finally gave into the urge to buy a project car. From childhood he knew that a car with the boxy styling of a Dart was in his future. With the help of Dan at DTM Racing, we tracked down a yellow 68’ Dart that fit the bill. Tommy also knew he wanted a car that was clean, reliable, comfortable, and most importantly, fun to drive, but knew next to nothing about how to take this car from the straight line drag car it was to the daily driver/autocrosser that was desired. With the continued help and tutelage of Dan and DTM Racing, both on and off the track, work began on the car. Two years later it is coming together to be exactly what he had envisioned.
