S550/S650 Mustang Coil-over Install

Learn how to lower your Mustang in this S550/S650 Mustang Coil-over Install in this video as we install a set of Ridetech coil-overs.

The 2015-2025+ Ford Mustang is a great handling car, whether it’s powered by the 2.3L EcoBoost turbo four cylinder, 3.7L V6 or the more desirable Coyote 5.0L V8.

However, there is always room for improvement on the aftermarket side of things, and recently Ridetech set out to develop a set of coil-overs that would be the perfect match to not only lower the S555 and S650 generations of Mustang but also improve performance and handling.

In this video we’re installing a set of coil-overs on a 2024 Ford Mustang GT. Installation on older models will be a similar experience.

Are you planning on doing the install yourself? No worries! Our coil-overs ship with a complete set of instructions to help you through the job. While we were able to install these coil-overs in a shop with a lift and a full suite of tools on tap, you can just as easily install these coil-overs in a few hours using a set of jackstands on a flat surface and a basic set of wrenches, ratchets, and sockets. Keep in mind, these cars, though American, are using metric fasteners so you’ll need a metric socket and wrench set to keep from rounding off bolt heads.

Keep in mind, installing a set of MacPherson strut based coil-overs typically throws off your vehicle alignment. After installation, we highly recommend heading to your preferred local automotive alignment service to properly align the vehicle to preserve tire life and for it to track straight.

In this video you’ll notice that the installer had to disconnect the front and rear sway bars in order to install these coil-overs. If you see yourself wanting to upgrade to our larger adjustable front and rear sway bars for this car, you may want to consider purchasing these and installing at the same time. Installing these adds a nominal amount of time to the total install and benefit you by offering additional adjustability and fine-tuning of the balance of your car. These things are a must when you’re going to be taking your Mustang out to the local autocross or track day.

And if you are looking for a way to lower your car more than this set of coil-overs will accommodate, you should take a look at our air ride suspension system, which is linked below.

Lastly, Ridetech recently started carrying some exterior modifications for the S550 and S650 Mustang in the way of RTR Mustang’s offerings. While a lot of exterior modifications are largely to personalize and only improve looks, a number of these modifications actually improve cooling and lighting, two key areas when you’re looking to modify your ride.
