Farrington Secures 4th Place in Vintage @ G2 USCA

Tom Farrington has been a long-time participant in the USCA series and is a staple in the pro-touring scene. Recently the Farrington’s installed one of Ridetech’s first MOMENTUM series chassis under their 1966 Chevelle that they’ve competed in for well over a decade. Since that core change last August, they’ve spent a considerable amount of time dialing the car back in to compete at a higher level within the USCA Vintage class.

Last weekend they campaigned the Chevelle down at the first USCA season opener held at G2 Motorsports Park in Anna, Texas.

Post event, Tom reflected on his weekend on track. “We had a great time running G2 over the weekend. The changes made over the winter are all working super well! The new Bowler Transmission Carbon edition T-56 shifts beautifully along with a recent upgrade to a 3.5” aluminum driveshaft from Performance Driveline Engineering which eliminated a vibration that has plagued us for quite some time. Perhaps the single greatest improvement in terms of the feel and control of the car came from a recent update we collaborated with Tom regarding some steering geometry updates that have contributed to much greater turn in feel and response, something Tom states matches his driving style and intended use much better.

Tom secured a fifth-place finish in the autocross component, and a fourth-place finish in the Speed Stop Challenge. Design and Engineering is always a tough crowd to compete in and the Chevelle finished out in 11th place. Tom reported that the road course was going fairly well with improvements throughout the three morning sessions, however, a mechanical issue ended the day on the first session of the afternoon with one timed lap.

Despite the mechanical Tom still managed to secure a fourth place overall Vintage class finish, which is a wonderful way to start the season. He and Deb are quite thrilled with that outcome, given the circumstances.

Deb’s wagon was also on site as the Farrington’s had just participated in the Fort Worth Goodguys autocross event the weekend before. Saturday, while at the USCA event, Deb pulled the car out of the trailer and entered it into a car show that was running simultaneously with the Optima event. Car and driver took home the “Best Ladies Ride” and “Best in 60’s Muscle and Custom”. While Deb is frequently out on track competing alongside the rest of the pack, it’s great to see the car attracts equal attention sitting still. Deb is looking forward to getting on track later this season at Road America and at Indy later in the season. Congrats to both Tom and Deb on a successful beginning to their 2026 automotive season.

Next up for the Farrington’s is an SCCA test & tune coming up May 2nd. Following that they’re back on yet another trek across the nation to run USCA at Willow Springs May 29-31. We wish them the best of luck in both endeavors.

We’ll catch you on the next one Ridetech Nation!”
