Ridetech VLOG | Hyperfest Recap & Fox Body Race Car Debut

If you’ve followed our Mustang build series recently you’ve likely been excited to see how our freshly-built Fox Body fared in its first outing.

Our team thrashed and worked long hours leading up to the event to ensure that we would have at least the opportunity to get it on track for a session and enjoy the fruits of our labors.

Our target date to have the car ready was May 17-19. The location? Hyperfest, in Danville, VA. Our goal? To test the car out in the NASA HPDE segment of the event to get data, learn the car and gradually turn up the wick if all systems were a go.

Hyperfest is an annual event that takes place at Virginia International Raceway. It’s a great place to enjoy various types of motorsport all in one location. Drifting, road racing, NASA HPDE track days, off-roading, rally racing, car show, and more are all going on during the same weekend. There’s a huge music festival, and you can even secure a campsite and hangout onsite all weekend with the family or your buddies.

Suffice it to say, our weekend was an uphill battle as we worked to get the car to pass tech and out on track for its first session. But that’s how these things go and we’re no stranger to the idiosyncrasies of race cars. We pushed through and enjoyed our time getting the data we had set out to gain.

The car was admittedly freshly put together with no track time, so that is exactly what we used our time on track for over the course of the weekend. Getting data and learning what the car was like behind the wheel so that we can further dial in the suspension and overall behavior the car.

If you missed it, this car was one of the development vehicles for our SLA front suspension systems and bolt-in IRS conversion for the Fox Body application. Check out the video for our first impressions!

We’ll continue fine-tuning as the car attends various autocross and road course events throughout the rest of 2024 year and look forward to seeing some of you reading if you get the chance to check it out!

Enjoy the video. If you did, please leave a like, comment or share it on your own social media to help spread the word!

Special thanks to our partners on the build, including HaltechForgelineWilwoodUltimate HeadersKUMHO tire, and Bowler Transmission.
