MOMENTUM Chassis Install Video

The news about Ridetech’s MOMENTUM Chassis Series is out, and the response has been exciting to see. In this blog post we took the time to go through the install of a MOMENTUM chassis on one of our employee’s cars, a 1970 Chevelle.

Follow along to see what it takes to get one of these installed in your favorite GM A-body application.

Ridetech’s first ever MOMENTUM Chassis solves a number of issues that owners sometimes face when it comes to donor cars that have frames that are plagued with rust or other damage. Even with some that are in decent shape, there are costs that must be considered when it comes to sandblasting, powdercoating, and recoating OE fasteners for an OE style restoration.

And then you have to come to grips with the fact that a lot of those hurdles could be easily overcome with a blank slate, or in this case, a fresh frame. Beyond the fact that these are more torsionally rigid (3x the factory frame), they also offer a ton of performance value. We like to say that MOMENTUM chassis allow us to be free from factory limitations, meaning we’re no longer hampered by the factory suspension pickup points. By picking our own hard points for suspension components to mount, we are able to vastly improve suspension geometry, including Ackermann, negative camber gain, motion ratio, etc.

Furthermore, the integration of rack-and-pinion steering is a huge upgrade in terms of driver feedback and enjoyment. We tend to think about wanting our classic cars to be just the way they were when they were new way back when. And that my friends is often a perspective we look through with rose colored glasses. The upgrade to rack-and-pinion steering, coupled with improved steering geometry, and the ability to cram a much larger wheel and tire under the front of the vehicle, all combine to transform the second generation GM A-Body into a force to be reckoned with.

As with most every Ridetech product line, we made sure to incorporate the ability to run air ride or coil-over when it comes to the suspension system you want to incorporate into your build. Within the same line of thinking, you can also choose to use an OE style pin spindle or upgrade to a late model hub spindle that allows you to upgrade to C5/C6 OE or aftermarket brake packages.
