In this episode of the Stay Tuned YouTube channel, the guys continue their work installing fresh parts from the likes of Ridetech, Baer Brakes, and Winters to get their NASCAR engine equipped Tri-Five back on the road and ready to rip before Hot Rod Drag Week.
For those who aren’t familiar with the Tri-five platform, these vehicles have two versions when it came to their frame ralls, a one or a two piece variant. Tony’s is a two piece and that is a key piece of information to know about your Tri-Five if you’re thinking about improving upon it with a Ridetech suspension system.
Whether you’re heart is set on an air or a coil-over setup, you’ll be glad to know that both versions of our complete suspension system comes with either coil-overs or ShockWaves, a large front sway bar, upper and lower tubular control arms, the bolt-on 4-link and all associated hardware for the install. Those opting for an air system will need to purchase an air management system like our E5 Airpod kit in order to supply and manage air at each corner.
For those that are looking to update their Tri-Five’s suspension but aren’t wanting to go as wild as one of our complete suspension systems with improved geometry, our StreetGRIP system is the sure bet. It lowers your Tri-five and improves ride quality and handling via the supplied front sway bar, lowering springs, rebound adjustable shocks, a complete Delrin bushing replacement kit, and composite leaf springs. These are also available for wagons.
While the Ridetech suspension is the primary source of our excitement in this build, it’s necessary to acknowledge the rest of the components that are going to make the ’55 a force to be reckoned with. The Winters Quick Change is capable of withstanding up to 1,000 horsepower, and Ridetechs 4-Link should pair well with that when it comes to sustained hard launches on the drag strip. We look forward to seeing how the car fares on Hot Rod Drag Week, which is where the vehicle is slated to be within a month’s time.
The Baer brake upgrade will vastly improve the stopping capability of the Tri-Five platform and will be a welcome addition for Tony while driving on the street in between tracks and when blasting down the 1320.
