Kevin Tetz just released his second installment of the Ridetech suspension install on Derek Bieri’s (Vice Grip Garage YouTube) 454SS OBS clone. The rear of the truck went on as advertised and in part two the front suspension install gets underway. The rear was the most involved, so what could go wrong with the straightforward installation of front coil-overs? Click play to find out!
Ridetech’s OBS suspension systems are great for those looking to improve the look and handling of their 88-98 Silverado or Sierra. The platform seems to have experienced a resurgence in popularity as of late considering the
“30-year rule” that applies to classic cars and trucks. Most of the time those looking to lower a vehicle are willing to compromise a bit on the ride quality of the vehicle, but with Ridetech, both goals of a lowered truck and a great ride quality can be had.
Ridetech utilizes Fox Factory performance monotube coil-overs with Hyperco springs that greatly improve performance over factory. The shocks come in either a single adjustable (HQ) or triple adjustable (TQ) variant. The singles are 24-position rebound adjustable, while the triples are both low and high-speed compression adjustable and rebound as well. And if you’re fall more on the air ride side of things, our ShockWave and CoolRide combo powered by an RidePro E5 Air Management system is also compatible.
- Front HQ Coil-Overs | Rear HQ Coil-Overs
- Front TQ Coil-Overs | Rear TQ Coil-Overs
- Front CoolRide Air Spring/Shock Kit | Rear HQ ShockWaves
These shocks pare with the rest of the kit which includes a larger front sway bar to better control the lateral body roll of the truck. Heavy Duty drop spindles are included and allow for use of a longer stroke shock, improved suspension geometry and reduced bump steer.
With the Ridetech suspension install finally complete, we look forward to seeing Kevin put his passion into play as he works his magic on the paint and body of this OBS truck.
