It is faster, easier and a lot less hassle to pull the driveshaft and the transmission yoke along with the differential assembly. That way you don’t chance dropping the u-joint caps and loosing the needle bearings. You can also leave the half shafts attached to the differential to eliminate all of that extra labor.
