Emerald Excellence: StrongArm-equipped 1966 Corvette

The Chevrolet Corvette will always be America’s Sports Car, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a cleaner example than this 1966 Stingray. Walking around Hot Rod Alley at the 2022 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, we immediately gravitated towards this Emerald Green coupe.

Built by Ryan’s Rod & Custom for Allen Fortner of Ninety Six, South Carolina, the car blends timeless factory styling with modern-day performance. Everywhere you look, you’ll see subtle body modifications, from the custom hood vents to the additional two taillights.

The work was handled in-house at Ryan’s before the car was sprayed with a custom-mixed Axalta Emerald Green. Chuck Hannah interiors stitched the upholstery, which adds an extra touch of class to the C2.

In the drivetrain department, Allen opted for an Inglese-injected LS3 outfitted with finned Billet Specialties valve covers. It’s backed by a SuperMatic 4L70E automatic transmission.

When it came to suspension, Allen wanted to take the ’Vette to the next level. With that in mind, he chose our Ridetech 1963-1979 C2/C3 coil-over system, complete with StrongArms. The race-inspired wheels came from Mike Curtis of Curtis Speed.

The Corvette now sits right and handles better than ever. It’s the complete package, and we’re excited to see it out on the street this year.
