Hot Rods in the Heartland: Goodguys Des Moines 2023

This Fourth of July weekend, we’re in Des Moines, Iowa, for the Goodguys Heartland Nationals. Now in its 32nd year, the event brings more than 4,000 hot rods, muscle cars and classics to the Iowa State Fairgrounds for three days of non-stop fun.

When Friday rolled around, so did the rain. Undeterred by the wet conditions, the Fairgrounds soon flooded with every type of vintage machine imaginable. Slammed trucks? Check. Early Ford hot rods? Check. All types of muscle? Double check. By the afternoon, the skies cleared up and the sun was out.

Just like in years past, we were right there in the middle of the action with our fully stocked Ridetech display. This time around, we brought our 1976 Ford F-100, which is equipped with Shockwaves and our complete bolt-in suspension system, and our lowered Silverado, which is our latest edition to the lineup.

The Heartland Nationals are more than just a car show. There’s also a jam-packed swap meet, the “Duel in Des Moines” Autocross showdown, a Nitro Thunderfest and fireworks on Saturday night.

We always love coming to Des Moines, and we’re already looking forward to next year!
