Joe Whitney and his 1970 Chevrolet Nova hail from Arizona and made the trek all the way out to SoCal so the rest of the hot rodding community could see his efforts on scene with Shawn and the crew at AutotopiaLA.
Whitney employed a foolproof approach with a GM LS swap sporting a GM LSA supercharger, a combination that puts him in the 550+ wheel horsepower range, managed by Holley’s Terminator X standalone EFI system. That power level combined with a relatively light chassis (low 3,000 lb) makes for quite a handful if you aren’t paying attention.
Underneath the car Ridetech’s complete Nova coil-over suspension and Tru-Turn steering keeps things planted whether Joe finds himself flat on the gas or hard in the turns. A manual Wilwood brake setup keeps the velocity in check when necessary.
This was a super fun video to watch as it strikes a great balance between a well built vehicle that didn’t go too far overboard in the paint and body where you would be afraid to daily drive the car.
Have a watch and we’ll catch you on the next one!
